Aliso B™ has been developed as an liquid alternative to powdered Aluminum Isopropoxide (AIP). AIP is a widely used chemical that works as a catalyst in Meerwein-Pondorf reductions, Oppenauer oxidations, and Tischenko reactions, and as a material used in the production of dielectric ceramics. Aliso B comes supplied as a 100% active aluminum alkoxide and is soluble in a variety of aliphatic, aromatic, and naphthenic hydrocarbons.
Aliso B is a mixture of aluminum alkoxides that offers several benefits over powdered AIP:
100% active – contains no petroleum distillate solvent
No dust explosion risk
Non-hazardous Classification – the mixture is not considered flammable per shipping regulations
Typical flash point of 160 ºF versus 56 ºF for powdered AIP
Consistency – the overall aluminum content is tightly controlled resulting in a more consistent product
